Catherine Theresa Revak Dissertation Presentation

Dr. Catherine T. Revak’s dissertation presentation, “Hazing and Sexual Assault: A Social Construction Exploration of Male-on-Male Sexual Assault and Military Discourse,” examines how military culture, patriarchy, and hegemonic masculinity lead many male service members to interpret sexual violence as “hazing” rather than assault, shaping whether they report and receive care. Drawing on social construction, gender, feminist, queer, and conflict theories, her work offers a new framework for understanding male-on-male sexual assault in the U.S. military and guiding more effective clinical and institutional responses.
